Dear Fellow Cyclists, Please see attached the notes of our Havering Cyclists' meeting from the 9th April 2018. LIVEABLE NEIGHBOURHOODS At the last CLG meeting we were presented with an outline of Havering's Liveable Neighbourhood plans. From what we can see, this entails replacing selected pedestrian underpasses under the Romford Ring Road with Toucan Crossings and possibly adding a new crossing near the old Oldcurch Hospital site which has seen a lot of new residential development. In terms of encouraging more walking and cycling, these plans are very modest and even at this stage, we are still waiting to see anything in writing. CARGO BIKE STORAGE We are still investigating alternative storage arrangements for the cargo bike and we are hoping to secure agreement to place a small storage shed at the depot in Hornchurch Country Park. CYCLE PARKING AT NEW CO-OP At the CLG, we raised the apparant lack of cycle parking at the new Co-op store in St Marys Lane and we now know that the parking racks were provided but that the disabled car parking bay, which according to the approved plans was to have been placed by the racks and whose ample width would have allowed access to them, was moved elswhere. Council officials are investigating. CYCLE HUBS SCHEME We are working to engage with Essex Wildlife Trust to have the Ingrebourne Valley Visitor Centre included in Havering Councils Cycle Hub scheme. GDPR REGULATIONS As you may have seen from our earlier communications, new regulations are being introduced to protect all our personal data which means that more scrutiny is now placed on any locally held lists of contacts and members for our group. As a result of this, we have agreed that in future, we will be posting these notes on our web site so that you the reciever of the information will be in control of whether you wish to see it and we will cease sending out these notes and other messages by email.
