Dear Fellow Cyclists, A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you. Meanwhile, please see below the notes of our Havering Cyclists' meeting on 12th December 2016. HAVERING COUNCIL AND CYCLING We have arranged a meeting with the Council Leader Cllr Roger Ramsey to discuss the new approach by Havering Council towards cycling. Ray and Jeff have prepared an agenda and will both attend and report back. SUNDAY CYCLE CLUB The Sunday Cycle Club rides have been well attended but we will stop running them before Christmas and restart in March, next year. We are also planning a Christmas Day ride from Central Park Harold Hill. CLG FEEDBACK • Cycling Officer John Lynn has resigned to take up a post elsewhere in London. • There was a remark previously made by one of the council officers that cyclists riding in the parks on Route 136 were allowed to do so as a favour or privilege but Jeff has checked and it was confirmed that we do have full rights to ride these routes. • Consultations are taking place for a revision of the Drill Roundabout to make it a single lane all the way around. • A consultation has taken place for cycle parking in the borough and Jeff will contact Mark Philpotts to discuss the next steps. MATERIALS We need to stock up on literature and materials for our street stalls. PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT Terry will look into possible posters that we could use to try to get the public more engaged with cycling and cyclists. NEXT MEETINGS Our next meeting s planned for Monday 9th January at JJ Moons PH in High Street Hornchurch. Just look out for the table where people, (or at least one person), are wearing red LCC or Sustrans tee shirts. As always, see the web site at www.haveringcyclists.org for the latest news. Regards Terry
