Dear All, These are notes from our meeting on 19 February 2014. TRAFFIC PLANNING CHANGES Ray had asked for our group mailbox to be added to the circulation list for all planning notifications and these are coming to us now. EVENTS The next Mark-it event is on Saturday 1st March and we will also be running a stall at the annual International Women's Day event in Ardleigh Green College on Saturday 8th March. Lucy from Sustrans has asked us to help with a series of events at local schools including "de-stabilising events" where children make their first attempt at riding without stabilisers. As a suggestion, we could be making use of our Gazebo for these events in schools. CLG REPORT -Amandeep will send proposed routes to link with CS3 on Quietways. -Skyrides will be available again this year and they will be free to havering (as we subscribed last year) but advertising will be the council's responsibility. Ray will add the rides to the HC website. -The traffic calming measures at Havering-Atte-Bower are still under debate, BRIDGE AVENUE This has had traffic calming in the form of road narrowing planters to create pinch points at intervals. This is to support Bridge Avenue as a Safe Route to School and as it forms part of Sustrans Route 136. As yet the results have not been promising as vehicles are still travelling at speed and there is no alternative provision for cyclists when passing through the pinch points. Terry will check if the 20mph signage is complete. LOCAL ELECTIONS 2014 Ray has circulated a file containing each of the Ward Asks for the forthcoming Local Elections. Terry will add links to Google Maps and some photos showing the problems we are trying to address. Terry will circulate for comment and send to Amy by 28th February. MERCHANDISING Ray has obtained more materials from Sustrans and the "goody bags" carrying our logo have proved useful so far on our leaflet stalls. Terry will print up some more. DONM is planned for 19 March at the Chequers PH in North Street. As always, see the web site at www.haveringcyclists.org for the latest news. Please feel free to add or correct my notes as appropriate. Terry
