Dear Fellow Cyclists, Here are notes from our campaign meeting on 9th February. CYCLE MAINTENANCE TRAINING Ray had attended one of the council-run courses in Harold Hill and found it very instructive and recommends it even for seasoned cyclists. CARGO BIKE We are planning the purchase of a cargo bike or trike to be precise. This will be useful for supporting our events with carrying and displaying materials and we hope that by having it sign-written it will also be a marketing tool. Daniel Douglas is looking into finding us storage for it at the Town Hall. Ray plans to purchase and collect the bike in the next two weeks so that we can use it for International Women's Day on 8 March. Terry will investigate the purchase of a security chain and padlock. SPACE FOR CYCLING We had more promotional business cards printed for distribution on parked bikes at stations and shopping areas. Jeff will cover Rainham Station. Ray will cover Romford and Terry will cover Upminster and Upminster Bridge. We already left cards and holder at bike shops and Rainham library. MATERIALS We have some Ingrebourne Way maps but need more. Terry will enquire about these and if there are any Sustrans and LCC leaflets that would be useful. Ray will obtain more GLA Cycling Guides. We also need more goody bags and stickers - Terry to investigate. RIDES We will be supporting the Bike-It childrens ride on 24 June. We will be organising an anniversary ride for the NCN with the aim to hold it on Sunday 19th July. There are also plans to hold a ride to mark the opening of the Hornchurch Country Park Visitor Centre in September but this is to be confirmed. ROUTE 136 SIGNAGE There is an on-site reveiw with Sustrans of the signage on route 136 planned for 23 February. HAVERING CYCLING OFFICER The post left vacant by the departure of Amandeep is about to be advertised. Date Of Next Meeting is planned for MONDAY 9 March at JJ Moons PH in High Street Hornchurch. (Just look out for the table showing the red Space For Cycling flags). As always, see the web site at www.haveringcyclists.org for the latest news. Please feel free to add or correct my notes as appropriate. Regards Terry
