Dear All, These are notes from our meeting of 12 January 2015. CLG REPORT ROUTE 136 SIGNAGE: There are still signage issues on route 136 in Hornchurch Country Park. Signs have been erected to advise of the alternative routes to avoid the steep hill and the frequent flooding but they are ineffective. Having complained in our role as Sustrans Rangers, Havering Council have told us that the matter is being referred to Sustrans for a full review. Jeff will find out who in Sustrans will be dealing. It also transpires that the bylaw changes have not taken place to permit cycling in our parks so that a large section of route 136 is technically illegal. Ray will write to Andrew Gilligan to bring this to his attention. ROMFORD ROAD SCHEMES: There is to be an uplift in the route from the Mawney Road underpass to the Brewery and on through South Street to Romford Station. The Toucan Crossing at the junction of Eastern Road and the Ring Road is to be changed to improve safety and visibility of the signals. QUIETWAYS: The Council officers have responded to Andrew Gilligan in the GLA with the following proposed routes: Romford-Rainham, Stratford-Cranham, Romford-Gidea Park, Becontree-Harrow Lodge Park and Romford to Chase Farm. These are for implementation betweem 2016-18. CYCLE OFFICER POST: The post is to advertised soon for the person to start work in April. CYCLE PARKING: More funding has been set aside for cycle parking. PUBLIC PUMPS: There are to be public cycle pumps provided at each railway station similar to the one already provided at Upminster. FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS: Friends of Upminster Playing Fields is considering the an idea to provide a shared use path across the playing fields to route 136 which would be a useful link. PUBLICITY: The Council's cycling videos which we helped produce are being prepared for release and a further video on inner tube replacement is being considered. EVENTS: We have plans to support International Women's Day in March and Sustrans is planning to organise a large ride on route 136 in June. The Council's cycle maintenace classes are to be extended. Date Of Next Meeting is planned for MONDAY 9 February at JJ Moons PH in High Street Hornchurch. As always, see the web site at www.haveringcyclists.org for the latest news. Please feel free to add or correct my notes as appropriate. Regards Terry
