Dear Colleagues, Some notes from our meeting on Wednesday evening. MARK-IT EVENT The Mark-It event on June 3rd in Romford Market went well. The next event is on Saturday 7th July in Romford Market. CLG No meeting has taken place since our last meeting but the items for us to raise are: 1) Petits Lane roundobout scheme 2) Roneo Corner proposals 3) A12 crossing SUSTRANS Philip had attended the Sustrans meeting earlier that day and had raised the issue of having the cycle logos on the road of sufficient size as to suggest a decent share of the road. The potholes in Ivy Lodge Lane are proving difficult as the lane is owned by Network Rail and filling the holes is not a priority for them. ORGANISATIONAL CO-ORDINATION In response to questions about how our organisations overlap, Philip explained that Sustans is a project-based organisation promoting walking and cycling, LCC is a campaigning organisation for London only and CTC is also a campaigning organisation but with nationwide coverage. BIKE WEEK Terry is to contact Amandeep regarding the offer of help for the event on 21st June. RIDE LEADER TRAINING Ray recommended the Skyride training as it is a very comprehensive practical course - register for places when they become available. GALLOWS CORNER FLYOVER SIGNAGE Andrew has a response from TfL saying that it will be corrected. OLYMPIC LED RIDES The nearest one is Beckton to Stratford. CROSSRAIL Will they allow bikes on Crossrail??? Terry will enquire. LEAFLET DISTRIBUTION Terry and Ray have our own leaflet plus some Sustrans leaflets to distribute to libraries health centres and local bike shops. Terry has done Upminster and will cover Hornchurch. Ray will cover Romford and Rainham. Dave Gould will cover Collier Row, Gidea Park and Harold Hill. Date of Next Meeting 18 July at 8.00 pm outside the NALGO club. As always, see the web site at www.haveringcyclists.org for the latest news/ Please feel free to add or correct my notes as appropriate. Best regards Terry
