Dear Fellow Cyclists, Please see below notes from our campaign meeting from the 9th May. CYCLE ACCESS IMPROVEMENTS Ray had made note of a number of opportunities for improved "permeability" where blocked off roads could be made cycle-friendly and provide useful access points: Repton Ave/Main Road North Street/Como Street Marks Road/Pretoria Road Thurloe Gardens/George Street - Ray will raise at the next Cycle Liaison Group (CLG) with the council. CYCLE TRAINING We still await new leaflets for Cycle Confident as Havering Council's new training provider. We were told that the leaflets are delayed because TfL want to present a cross-London branded approach. EVENTS We will again be leading a feeder ride to the 2016 London Freecycle on 30 July. Please get in touch if you are willing to help lead and marshal the ride. Terry will follow up with Jeff on his plans for activities during the summer holidays in Hornchurch Country Park. MATTERS ARISING Tosin had seen that the secure cycle parking at Romford Station has fallen into disuse because the staff are no longer managing use of the keys. Ray will speak to TfL who now run the station to see if new locks can be fitted. Dave had seen that cycle lane markings on the busier roads have become very worn. Ray had raised this before and was told that as the painted-on lanes are now viewed as substandard, they will not be maintained as amatter of course. CYCLE LIAISON GROUP (CLG) The Cycle Liaison Group meeting is where the council meets with local cyclists and representatives to discuss cycling issues and developments that will affect cyclists. It takes place every 2-3 months typically on a Monday afternoon at the Town Hall and if you would like to be invited along, please get in touch. NEXT MEETING Our next meeting is planned for Monday 11th July at JJ Moons PH in High Street Hornchurch. Just look out for the table where people (or at least one person) are wearing red LCC or Sustrans tee shirts. As always, see the web site at www.haveringcyclists.org for the latest news. Regards Terry
