Dear Fellow Cyclists, Please see below the notes of our Havering Cyclists' meeting on 12th June 2017. CYCLE HUBS MEETING The council has a plan to raise the profile of cycling in the borough with the setting up of four "Cycle Hubs" which will run a series of events through the summer starting on 23rd July. Activities will include cycle training, led rides, cycle maintenance courses and Doctor Bike events. The four hubs are planned to be Thames Chase (Broadfield Farm), Hornchurch Sports Centre, Rainham Village School and MyPlace in Harold Hill. EVENTS Cycle marking is no longer a priority for the police so we will reduce our presence at Romford Market accordingly. We are planning to run some stand-alone events in Hornchurch Country Park. Terry is to check public liability position for a Dr Bike stall. We will be supporting the Ride London event on the 29th July but we do not have enough ride leaders to run our own ride this year. Please let us know if you are able to help marshal the ride. We are planning to attend this year's Havering Town Show for both days if we can get enough volunteer support. Please let us know if you can help with the information stand for a few hours on the Sunday 27th August or on Bank holiday Monday. MATERIALS We need to restock the cargo bike for the new season. We understand that the new TfL cycle maps are now available and Ray will order them. Jeff will speak to Martin Day to replenish the Ingrebourne Valley Maps. Terry will obtain new LCC materials. CLG FEEDBACK Mark Philpotts is working on a plan to bring cycle route continuity across the difficult junction of South Street and Eastern Road. Momentum for the Cycle Hubs is gathering pace and we hope to see a lot more people getting on the bikes under this scheme. NEXT MEETINGS Our next meeting s planned for Monday 10th July at JJ Moons PH in High Street Hornchurch. Just look out for the table where people, (or at least one person), are wearing red LCC or Sustrans tee shirts. As always, see the web site at www.haveringcyclists.org for the latest news. Regards Terry
