Dear Colleagues, Some notes from our meeting last Wednesday evening. LEAFLETS Terry will order up a batch of the recently drafted local A5 leaflet shortly as soon as the final draft is prepared. INGREBOURNE VALLEY WAY Good progress has been observed and the works for the new route looks to be on track to complete by the end of March. We will support the formal opening events. INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY The event helda at Havering College on 9th March was well attended with lots inyterest shown - it was said that we had the biggest banner. HAVERING ATTE BOWER Philip was not able to attend the HAC meeting on 19 March when the proposed improvements to the traffic calming measures in Havering-Atte-Bower were presented but was able to enlist the help of a friend to attend. There was opposition to the scheme and a decision has been deferred. This was a disappointment but Philip will continue to make enquiries about how we can proceed. HAROLD HILL FESTIVAL We are planning to support the event on 6 July with an information stall. PEDALLING INTO THE PAST We are planning to support the event on 11 August with an information stall. HGV EVENT Jeff will speak to Mark P with a view to us setting up an HGV awareness event. JOHN COX We were saddened to learn that John Cox had been hospitalised following an accident. We wish him a speedy recovery. MAYORS CYCLE VISION PLANNING MEETING 30 APRIL There is to be a meeting of CLG members to discuss ideas for inclusion in the Mayor's Vision/Cycle Planning. Suggestions were making Romford a Dutch-style centre, extending CS2 and CS3 and establishing quiet routes between town centres. It was agreed that the priority must be segregation to encourage new cyclists. We need more ideas so please let us know yours. HAVERING OVER 50s GROUP Ray is doing a presentation on cycling to the group in April. DONM is 17 April at the NALGO. This will be the last meeting at the NALGO as sadly, it is closing. From May we will meet at the Chequers PH in North Street Hornchurch. As always, see the web site at www.haveringcyclists.org for the latest news. Please feel free to add or correct my notes as appropriate. Best regards Terry
