Dear Fellow Cyclists, Please see below notes from our campaign meeting from the 14th March. INTERNATIONAL WOMENS' DAY The day was marked with an event at Ardleigh House Community Association on 12th March where we had an information stand. The event was well attended and we had a steady stream of enquiries about cycle training, places to cycle and places to hire bikes. Thanks to those who gave their time to help. EVENTS The Mayor's Charity Bike Ride is planned for 24th April and we have begun preparing the paperwork. We do need to advertise the event and engage as many helpers as possible. If you would like to help, please get in touch. The Police have changed their approach slightly at the Mark-it events in Romford and are mow placed inside the cycle shop. We decided that we will continue to use the same outside pitch and will be able to speak to cyclists as we redirect them to the bike shop. ROMFORD LIBRARY GATES The consultation period for the changes to the gates is now closed so we should see a decision shortly. SIGN FOR CYCLING The LCC's London Mayoral campaign is now under way to try to gain the best deal for cyclists from the prospective candidates. Please support the campaign if your've not done so already by going to http://signforcycling.org/ . We have posted Sign for Cycling leaflets on parked bikes at Upminster and Upminster Bridge Stations and have Romford to do. NEXT MEETING Our next meeting is planned for 11th April at JJ Moons PH in High Street Hornchurch. (Just look out for the table where the people are wearing red LCC or Sustrans tee shirts). As always, see the web site at www.haveringcyclists.org for the latest news. Regards Terry
