Dear All, These are notes from our meeting of 12 May 2014. This was the first of our meetings at the new time of the SECOND MONDAY of each month. CLG REPORT There had been no CLG since the last meeting. LOCAL ELECTIONS 2014 and SPACE 4 CYCLING In response to Ward Asks, John P had met with Prospective Cllr Pam Freer at the junction of Hall Lane and the A127 and she had made modest commitments to improvements. Through LCCs S4C website we see that 32% of candidates in Havering support the SPACE 4 CYCLING campaign this being mostly the Green and Labour candidates. Cllr Ron Ower (Upminster RA) had pledged his support and mentioned that he would like to meet with us - we need to think of a suitable approach - perhaps we could ask him along to the next CLG? In an effort to build support for ourselves and for S4C, "goody bags" bearing our name and containing the Havering TfL map, the Sustrans route 136 map, one S4C window poster, the small S4C campaign leaflet, 2x S4C stickers, the S4C Big Ride leaflet, a cycle training leaflet and our Havering Cyclists leaflet were prepared and left on parked bikes at Upminster Station, Upminster Bridge Station, Elm Park Station, Romford Station and Queens Hospital. About 50 bags were distributed. Note that the next CLG will be the first of the new Council Administration - we should all make every effort to attend and support it. EVENTS The Mark-it events on the first Saturday each month continue to be well-received. There is a Sustrans ride on 31/5 which ray will publicise on our web site and the weekly Skyrides have started again for the summer. Date Of Next Meeting is planned for MONDAY 9 June at the Chequers PH in North Street. As always, see the web site at www.haveringcyclists.org for the latest news. Please feel free to add or correct my notes as appropriate. Terry
