Dear Fellow Cyclists, Here are notes from our campaign meeting on 11th May. CARGO BIKE The new artwork for the front and back of the box has been delivered as has the protective cover. EASTBROOKEND COUNTRY FAIR Plans are well in hand for us to be supporting this event on 7 June with an information stand (based on the cargo bike). Any help in staffing the stall will be welcome on the day even if only for an hour so that others can take a break. NCN ANNIVERSARY RIDE The 20th anniversary ride for the NCN is planned for Sunday 19th July. John suggested that in the week or so prior to the ride that we should try to prune back some of the overgrowth at key points like signage and seating along the route. Agreed. BRETONS BRIDGE The opening ceremony did not happen on on 28 April and Sustrans plan to include a portrait bench featuring local figures. There will be a meeting to discuss which figures will be portrayed, The actual opening ceremony date is now to be arranged. INGREBOURNE VALLEY VISITORS CENTRE Construction work is well under way and the grand opening ceremony is planned for 3rd October. CYCLE OFFICER POST We understand that the second set of interviews produced a suitable candidate who has been offered the position. SPACE FOR CYCLING The LCC group meeting on 28/4 was proposing an end date in the May/June timeframe. We need to decide how best to present our petition. SHOPPER PARKING BAYS Terry had proposed that Havering Council set a new condition of use for shopper parking bays that users park in the direction of travel. This is to avoid vehicles having to pull out almost the full width of their vehicle before they can see if the way is clear which is a hazard for all road-users and especially cyclists. Terry made this point in response to a consultation on bus stop changes and has also asked it to be on the agenda for the next CLG (12/5) MATERIALS Terry has obtained plastic goody bags and S4C stickers. Date Of Next Meeting is planned for MONDAY 8 June at JJ Moons PH in High Street Hornchurch. (Just look out for the table showing the red Space For Cycling flag). As always, see the web site at www.haveringcyclists.org for the latest news. Please feel free to add or correct my notes as appropriate. Regards Terry
