Dear Colleagues, Some notes from our meeting on Wednesday evening. MARK-IT EVENTS The November Mark-It event went well but had to be curtailed as the Police had to stop the event to arrest two ne'er-do-wells. The next event is on Saturday 1st December in Romford Market. Havering Council CLG Ray reported that: 1) Cycling Officer Amandeep has undertaken to recommend that Havering hosts a Skyride event in 2013. 2) Cycling For Health will not be supported due to lack of funding. 3) Revised traffic calming plans for Havering Atte Bower are out for consultation. 4) A report has been produced on the Romford Ring Road - Philip has undertaken to produce a response. 5) Ideas are sought for an Olympic Legacy - Suggestion: A Havering Velodrome competition. LCC AGM Our candidate Ray came 16th of 18 with 134 votes, which considering the size of the Havering membership, means that Ray must have polled many votes from outside of the borough - Well Done Ray! LCC LGM Ray reported back from the meeting on the Safer Lorries, Safer Cycling Campaign. Ashok has written to the leader of each council. We then have sent emails from Havering members to the leader and next we will send emails to a wider selection of councillors with the aim of getting our political leaders engaged. The 2014 campaign theme is yet to be agreed. Christmas Ride: 30 December to RSPB. Mustering at Hornchurch Station (09.45), Sqaudrons Approach (10.00) and Rainham Station (10.30) Date of Next Meeting The next meeting is planned for THURSDAY 20 December at 8.00 pm outside the NALGO club (AKA Havering Staff Social Club). As always, see the web site at www.haveringcyclists.org for the latest news. Please feel free to add or correct my notes as appropriate. Best regards Terry
