Dear All, Some notes from our meeting on 20 November. CLG REPORT: The November meeting was postponed to early December. ROM VALLEY ROUTE A site meeting had previously taken place and the potential route was explored on foot. There are many possibilities and work is ongoing with a view to the council presenting the options to Sustrans who are aiming to project-manage the delivery of the route. BIKE-IT Jeff, Ray and Terry are to assist Lucy from Sustrans with the Doctor Bike element of her Bike-It programme in Havering Primary Schools in November and December 2013. EVENTS It was agreed that despite the onset of winter, we will continue to support the Mark-It events in Romford Market. Terry will look into obtaining more merchandising - carrier bags, flags and business cards. NOMINATED COUNCILLOR FOR CYCLING The council have given Cllr Robert Benham the job of Cycling Champion as an interim measure pending the 2014 elections. LOCAL ELECTIONS 2014 The LCC has presented five asks that we should put to prospective candidates but we now need to tailor this for local needs and poll members to identify one or two of these asks to press for PER WARD. Ray will create a list of members per ward and Terry will review the campaign asks and try to write some template letters for members' use. There is a campaign meeting for local groups on 28 Nov 2013 and a further workshop on 18 Jan 2014 both at LCC Head Office. ARDLEIGH GREEN INFANTS Ray had been alerted via the LCC message board to an issue at Ardleigh Green Infants where the headmistress has used her discretion to ban cycles from the playground. Ray took the matter up and has written to Cllr Ray Rochford the council but it is difficult to take further as the complainant has not provided her name. DONM is planned for 18 December at the Chequers PH in North Street (where the Doom Bar Bitter is highly recommended). As always, see the web site at www.haveringcyclists.org for the latest news. Please feel free to add or correct my notes as appropriate. Best regards Terry
