Dear Fellow Cyclists, Please see attached the notes of our AGM and then below, the notes of our Havering Cyclists' meeting both from the 13th November 2017. CYCLE PARKING Ray agreed to question the council on the strategy for locating cycle stands - our preference has been to locate them outside smaller shopping parades where we feel they will be most effective. FEEDBACK FROM THE LAST CLG • The Council's Cycling Newsletter is continuing with the intention to issue it quarterly. • The Cycle Hubs are also to continue and the council is looking at bringing the Essex Wildlife Trust Visitor Centre on as a 5th hub. • Improvements have been made to Marks Road, Como Road and other nearby to road closures to make them more cycle-friendly. Mostly this has been by replacing steel fire gates with collapsible bollards. • Quietways - Six plans were proposed but none succeeded in gaining funding from TfL. • Beam Park - Chris Smarts plans should be available in February. • Diversion of Route 136 from Hall Lane carriageway - Plans are being prepared to upgrade the railway tunnel path for Coopers Coborn school and the meeting agreed to look into the possibility to get the small piece of pathway provided in the corner of Upminster Hall Playing Field. • Plans are also being developed for the link between route 136 and the A127. • Cycle Training. In the past year, 3000 children have been trained at school and 300 adults. From next year, the contract will be a 3 year term to provide more stability. • The next meeting is on 18th January at 2.00 pm in room CR3A. MATERIALS New materials are in hand ready for distribution. WEB SITE UPDATE We agreed to change our website supplier. We will maintain our existing web address but the associated email addresses may change. Ray has agreed to do the work to transfer to the new site. NEXT MEETING Our next meeting will be on Monday 11th December at JJ Moons PH in High Street Hornchurch. All are welcome so just look out for the table where people, (or at least one person), are wearing red LCC or Sustrans tee shirts. As always, see the web site at www.haveringcyclists.org for the latest news. Regards Terry
