Dear Colleagues, Dear Colleagues, Some notes from our last meeting on 16 October. CLG REPORT: Mandeep and Emma are working on the bid for funding from the Mayor's office for Training, publicity and awareness. There is a draft map of "quiet Routes" of Havering out for consultation. Hardcopies were distributed at the CLG. Ray is to request an electronic copy for wider distribution. The TfL rep at the meeting spoke of plans to upgrade the A12 cycle provision between the Moby Dick and Gallows Corner (by 2015). They will also look into converting the footway along the A127 to shared-use (it is not at present). Mark P has ridden the A12 and noted a nuisance caused by overhanging trees. He will takes steps to resolve. The Cycling Boroughs bid is progressing as is the Romford Station Consultation. ROM VALLEY ROUTE A site meeting had taken place and the potential route was explored on foot. There are many possibilities and work is ongoing. BIKE-IT Jeff is meeting with Lucy from Sustrans on 17/10/13 with a wiew to restarting the scheme locally. EVENTS We reviewed the events run and supported this summer and feel that we have played an worthwhile part in promoting cycling - the Harold Hill Festival and the Beauty and the Bike events were well-recieved and the monthly mark-it stall in Romford is always busy. FRIENDS OF HORNCHURCH COUNTRY PARK We have been successful in our bid for £5K of funding to promote cycling to be spent by August 2014. We are planning family cycle maintenance session and led rides (on route 136). LOCAL ELECTIONS 2014 The LCC has presented five asks that we should put to prospective candidates (see website for details). Jeff is standing and will support them. LCC TRUSTEE ELECTIONS Ray is standing for election as a trustee on 19/10. Good luck! LED WALK and FREE LUNCH Is planned along the Ingrebourne Valley Way on 2 November. DONM is planned for 20 November at the Chequers PH in North Street (where the Doom Bar Bitter is highly recommended). As always, see the web site at www.haveringcyclists.org for the latest news. Please feel free to add or correct my notes as appropriate. Best regards Terry
