Dear Fellow Cyclists, Please see attached notes from our AGM and also please see below notes of our campaign meeting both from the 12th October. NEW GATES AT ROMFORD LIBRARY The Council had, without consultation, erected new gates on the approach road to Romford Library which we felt caused an unnecessary and illegal obstruction to cyclists and mobility scooters. Ray and Jeff have met with Council officers asking them to reconsider and an alternative solution has been proposed. QUEENS HOSPITAL Terry and Jeff met with the site manager to discuss the lack of cycle access to Queens Hospital and have followed this up by forwarding a list of issues that need attention with external signage and with signage and permissions within the hospital site. INGREBOURNE VALLEY VISITORS CENTRE OPENING - 3 OCTOBER 2015 The day was a surprisingly huge success with a steady queue of people at our stall and we were able to distribute a large pile of Ingrebourne Valley route maps. Sadly the promised Spitfire fly-past did not take place. FORTHCOMING EVENTS The Beam Bridge opening is planned for 20 October and a celebrity presence is expected. The Windmill ride for schools has been cancelled. The Mark-it events continue with the next one in Romford on 7 November. We need to determine a suitable route for the Mayor's Charity Bike Ride planned for 24 April 2016. CYCLE SCHEME FUNDING BID We await news on our bid to fund a Doctor Bike to support the Mark-It events for the next 3 years. MATERIALS Terry has obtained more goody bags but we have found that the branded HCC stickers are quite expensive. The meeting agreed that they are worth the expense and Terry will obtain them. NEXT MEETING Our next meeting is planned for 9th November at JJ Moons PH in High Street Hornchurch. (Just look out for the table where the people are wearing red LCC or Sustrans tee shirts). As always, see the web site at www.haveringcyclists.org for the latest news. Please feel free to add or correct my notes as appropriate. Regards Terry
