Dear Fellow Cyclists, Here are notes from our campaign meeting on 10 August. NCN ANNIVERSARY RIDE The NCN ride on Sunday 19th July was considered a success with good weather and a good turnout. Dear Fellow Cyclists, Here are notes from our campaign meeting on 14 September. HAVERING LCC CONSTITUTION We have drafted a constitution for the group based on a template from the LCC. We will circulate it in time for our first AGM next month. NEW GATES AT ROMFORD LIBRARY The Council have erected new gates on the approach road to Romford Library. We feel that this causes an unnecessary obstruction to cyclists and mobility scooter users and that this was done without proper consultation. Ray and Jeff have met with Council officers asking them to reconsider. QUEENS HOSPITAL Terry has arranged to meet with the site manager to discuss the lack of cycle access to Queens Hospital. Reviewing the Green Travel Plan, a lot of issues were identified back in 2013 but none appear to have been addressed. SPACE FOR CYCLING - ACTIONS ARISING We agreed that we would help organise the Mayor's Charity Bike Ride and Jeff has now spoken with the Mayor and agreed that we should plan it to take place on the last Sunday in April (24/4/16). We also said that we would make a presentation to Councillors explaining our aims and we will check progress on this at the next CLG. INGREBOURNE VALLEY VISITORS CENTRE OPENING - 3 OCTOBER 2015 We will need both the cargo bike and the gazebo so the gazebo will have to be taken by car. Please let us know if you can help on the day CYCLE SCHEME FUNDING BID We have submitted a bid to fund a Doctor Bike to support the Mark-It events for the next 3 years. We think this will raise the profile of the events and enable us to get the cycling message across to more people. HAVERING TOWN SHOW We have been invited to support the Town Show and hope to attend with the cargo bike on at least one of the two days. Please get in touch if you would like to help. INGREBOURNE VALLEY VISITOR CENTRE OPENING The opening ceremony is planned for 4 October and we plan to support it. We hope that this will be an ideal place to stop on shorter rides on Route 136. MATERIALS We need more goody bags and HCC stickers to brand them. Terry will obtain them. HAVERING CYCLISTS AGM Our next meeting is our AGM which will take place on 12 October. The venue is JJ Moons PH in High Street Hornchurch. (Just look out for the table where the people are wearing red LCC or Sustrans tee shirts). Refreshments will be provided! As always, see the web site at www.haveringcyclists.org for the latest news. Please feel free to add or correct my notes as appropriate. Regards Terry
