Dear Fellow Cyclists, Please see below notes from our campaign meeting from the 12th September. INGREBOURNE WAY FLOOD DAMAGE The Forestry Commission have erected signs in Pages Wood warning of the damage to the paths but say there is no budget available at the moment to make proper repairs. Jeff will take this up with his FC contact. Other options are the Thames Chase volunteers or we could set up a small task group ourselves to make temporary repairs. FEEDBACK FROM CYCLE LIAISON GROUP MEETING ON 12-09-16 • The scheme at Main Road was completed but more signage is needed and there will be minor path changes at the bus stop for left turning cyclists. • The improvement scheme in Angel Way has been approved and is going ahead. • The contraflow system at South Street is being reviewed and a consultation exercise is being launched. We hope the outcome will be continuity between the North-South and East-West routes as they all converge in Central Romford but at the moment they do not quite meet up • The scheme for Cedar Road, Romford has been referred back due to objections. • The results of a London-wide cycle count have been published but as it is the first, there is little to compare it against. • We have been pressing for better signage to help cyclists find their way to and from Queens Hospital. Borough planner, Mark intends to include improved signage with the new Ring Road crossing that he is working on. Meanwhile, Terry will write again to Hyder as Queens Hospital site manager asking for more signage on site. CYCLE LIAISON GROUP (CLG) The Cycle Liaison Group meeting is where the council meets with local cyclists and representatives to discuss cycling issues and developments that will affect cyclists. It takes place every 2-3 months typically on a Monday afternoon at the Town Hall and if you would like to be invited along, please get in touch. SCHOOL CYCLE CLUBS The bike clubs at Mead and Broadford schools have been set up with the help with Phil Mylea (through TfL). Jeff is also trying to organise some cycle maintenance classes. SUNDAY CYCLE CLUB We are planning to start a club to provide family rides on a Sunday morning from the Vistor Centre in Hornchurch Country Park. Jeff will raise this at the next meeting of the Essex Wildlife Trust. If approval is given, Terry will obtainan advertising banner to attach to the fence next to the Visitor centre and Ray will publicise through our internet channels. NEXT MEETINGS Our next meeting is also our AGM and it is planned for Monday 10th October at JJ Moons PH in High Street Hornchurch. Just look out for the table where people, (or at least one person), are wearing red LCC or Sustrans tee shirts. As always, see the web site at www.haveringcyclists.org for the latest news. Regards Terry
