Happy New Year!

The turning of the year is a good moment to look back on the past year at take stock:

-We saw a short but vital section of decent cycle track connecting Eastern Road with Havana Close in Central Romford which finally closed the missing link in London Cycle Network 12.

-We saw plans laid for much-needed improvements to Marsh Way in South Hornchurch where two cyclists sadly lost their lives in separate incidents back in 2021.

-Work is now under way to provide a new, safer cycle route from Harold Wood to Brentwood as part of the M25/J28 project.

-The council’s long-awaited Active Travel Strategy has now been issued (in draft) which will help guide future council decisions supporting walking, wheeling and cycling.

-We organised a series of free cycle maintenance classes and Doctor Bike events and we organised a the Mayor’s Charity Bike ride in support of the Havering Mayor’s charities.

Havering still has a long way to go before we can regard it as a safe place to cycle but for the first time in many years, we have seen some real progress and hopefully, we will see more in the coming year.

Thank you for your ongoing support and a Happy New Year to you all.
