Havering Cyclists Call For Fair Shares For Havering

We have welcomed the news this week that as part of TfL’s bailout deal with the government, £100m of funding has to be allocated to walking and cycling measures across London and we have called upon Council Leader Cllr Damian White to redouble his efforts to secure Havering’s fair share.

Our view is that Havering has lost out repeatedly on previous funding seeing other boroughs such as Enfield and Kingston getting funding for really decent cycling infrastructure. We believe that this is why Havering has been ranked bottom again this year in the Healthy Streets Scorecard.

You may recall that following our “Let Havering Cycle” campaign last year with XR Havering, Cllr White committed to lobby for such funding, so we feel that the instruction from the Department of Transport for TfL to spend at least £100m on walking and cycling measures, presents us with a real opportunity.

We want Cllr White to help Havering get its fair share of the funding in order to give Havering residents a real choice in how they make their journeys by implementing measures to make walking and cycling safer in the borough.

And we stand ready to assist Havering council in any way that we can.

Our message to Havering residents is that if you have a few moments, please contact your own ward councillors to make your views on this known.
